It was in March 2012 that a Norwegian Hercules plane flew into a mountain wall in Kebnekaise and four crew members and one passenger perished. Now the Norwegian newspaper VG writes that the lawyer Geir Fornebo wants the case to be investigated again, which he stated in a letter to the chief of police in Nordland and the Norwegian prosecutor.

Have talked to whistle blowers

The reason why the investigation can take off again is that a whistleblower has revealed to VG that the accident may be due to poor flight planning, and that there must be a culture within the union to neglect with rules. Nor should the Norwegian police have conducted any independent interrogations, even though it was their responsibility. Instead, the case was handed over to the military police.

Inadequate knowledge of staff

In its 2013 report, the Swedish Accident Investigation Board states that the accident was not due to technical errors in the aircraft but to incorrect flight management in Swedish airspace, while at the same time staff did not have sufficient knowledge of the terrain. An earlier study has shown that the pilots' map lacked significant information about the terrain.
