The journey has been long and varied for the valley horse at the mall next to highway 70 and highway 68 in Avesta. The inauguration took place in biting cold on December 13, 1989. The 13-meter-high and 68-ton-heavy horse attracted much attention and is now under the epithet the world's largest dal horse.

But the weather and wind have been hard on the valley horse over the years. In March 2017, it was so bad that the horse completely built in concrete risked cracking.

- It looks very bad, I have to say. It's not as nice as the beginning either. The color has become so pale it hardly appears that it is red, said Anette Hedberg from Avesta, to SVT Nyheter Dalarna in an interview then.

Life was nearing its end

In May 2017, a concrete company sent out the stately horse. In their analysis it was said that the lifetime of the concrete was nearing its end and that the construction of the horse was wrong, which caused the formation of crack. The company also wrote that they "think it honors the owner that he does not plan to fix the incurable problems".

The municipality took over responsibility

But in September 2018, Avesta Municipality announced that the horse would be rusted and that the municipality would take over the responsibility of the then owner, a Danish real estate company.

In the spring, a renovation work started. And today, October 2, the valley horse could be re-inaugurated by the municipal council Lars Isacsson (S).
