“The European Union reiterates the need to bring all those responsible to justice and insists on conducting a credible and open investigation into the circumstances of the murder, as well as on a proper trial of the defendants under investigation in Riyadh,” the statement said.

It is noted that a year after the tragedy, the investigation has many questions regarding the circumstances of the killing of Khashukji.

The EU recalled that journalists are often the victims of attacks in many countries, noting their "unconditional commitment to supporting freedom of the press and protecting journalists around the world."

Khashukji was killed at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul on October 2, 2018.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that the dismembered body of Khashukji did this to the music.

Parts of the journalist’s body were found in a well on the territory of the residence of the Consul General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul.

The UN called on Riyadh to plead guilty to the killing of Khashukji.
