Raised serial killer as important to the story - evokes strong reactions

The Helsingborg Women's Map has been going on for three years and will end in January.

Almost 30 women, many of whom are anonymous, have been highlighted as important and important for Helsingborg's history.

The choice to lift Hilda Nilsson, Sweden's worst female serial killer, has sparked reactions in social media. Hilda Nilsson murdered eight foster children.

- We have been asked why she is on many occasions, including during our lectures on the project, says project manager Camilla Bergvall.

Why is she important to the story?

- We do not highlight her as a role model, we do not romanticize her deeds - but instead the context in which she worked and how it was possible that her deeds could be committed, says Camilla Bergval.

Besides during the project lectures, the choice of Hilda Nilsson has aroused strong reactions in social media, among other things. Many people find it strange that Hilda Nilsson is regarded as significant.

One of them is Richard Glantz.

- I respond to the expression that Hilda Nilsson is "important and important" for the story. Is a person killing children important? No, I don't think so, he says.

Can you understand people's reactions to Hilda Nilsson being an important person?

- I'm surprised - but I think it's about sex. For example, if you read a history book, they are only about the men who have committed serious acts. And when women are highlighted, they are good, super-holy people. We chose not to just highlight people who have done good things, ”says Camilla Bergvall.

- I think that the Women's Map Helsingborg does a great job - and I agree that women, no matter what they have done, have a far too hidden role in history, says Richard Glantz.
