At the British Museum in the UK, a special exhibition featuring precious cultural assets such as the Buddha statue of a national treasure transmitted to a temple in Nara Prefecture will be held from the 3rd, and it was released to the media in advance.

This exhibition was organized by Nara Prefecture and others to send Japanese tradition and culture to the world ahead of next year's Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

The British Museum in London, England, exhibits 19 items such as national treasures from temples in Nara Prefecture and Buddha statues as important cultural properties.

Among them, the national treasure “Kannon Tatsumi” passed down to Horyu-ji is a Buddha statue characterized by gentle smiles. Also known as “Yumechigaikannon”, there is a legend that if you pray to this Buddha statue, nightmares will turn into good dreams.

In addition, the national treasure “Birth Buddha Buddha statue” transmitted to Todaiji Temple is a Buddha statue that is said to have pointed to the heavens with the right hand and the earth with the left hand and saying “There is nothing more precious than me in this world”.

According to Nara Prefecture, some of the cultural properties on display were rented overseas for the first time.

“This exhibition took three years, and it ’s nice to see people from all over the world see Nara ’s art, which is the origin of Japanese culture,” said Tim Clark Japan section head of the British Museum. I was talking.

This exhibition will be held from the 3rd of this month to the 24th of next month.
