According to the head of the LPR Foreign Ministry, Vladislav Deyniy, the signing of the formula indicates Kiev’s readiness for a political settlement, but this is a symbolic step.
“The formula means only one thing - a special status for the Donbass and the mechanism of its formation. To do this, you need to change the Constitution of Ukraine, ”he said.
As the diplomat pointed out, the texts of the new laws must be agreed with the Donbass.
The deputy head of the People’s Police of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, also commented on the approval of the formula.
“Statements are one thing, business is another. Soon we will understand whether Ukraine will do something in practice, ”he said.
On October 1, the participants in the contact group at a meeting in Minsk agreed on the Steinmeier formula for its implementation in Ukrainian legislation.
As Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky noted, a new law will be developed on the special status of Donbass, which will include a formula.
The Russian Foreign Ministry positively assessed the harmonization of the formula and the separation of forces and assets in Petrovsky and Zolotoy.
On September 30, the Foreign Ministers of the DPR and LPR expressed hope that Kiev would begin to agree on Steinmeier’s formula at the group’s meeting on October 1.
