Two of the dead were Indonesians, one was Filipino, the identities of the others found were not established. According to preliminary data, they all worked on fishing vessels registered in Taiwan.

It is reported that to remove two boats from under the collapsed bridge on October 1, a floating platform was deployed, the third boat was removed the day before.

As a result of the collapse of the structure, ten people, including a Taiwanese truck driver who fell from a bridge, were hospitalized with injuries. The other nine - Filipino and Indonesian fishermen - are in serious condition.

The circumstances of the incident are being clarified.

The bridge, 140 meters long and 18 meters high, was opened in 1998. It replaced a lower span, which did not allow large fishing vessels to pass under it.

Earlier, a video was posted on the network from a surveillance camera that captured the collapse of a bridge in a fishing village in eastern Taiwan. It was reported that the incident occurred several hours after the typhoon ended on the island.

According to the Taiwan Central Information Agency, the bridge collapsed in Taiwan’s Yilan County when a truck with a gas tank was driving along it.
