Two days after Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Independence in India, was born, 150 years have passed, and a memorial event was held in the place of birth.
Mahatma Gandhi achieved independence from Britain in 1947 through resistance movements due to non-violence and disobedience, and was assassinated the following year, but has gained wide public respect as the father of Indian independence.
On the 2nd day, 150 years after Gandhi's birth, the celebratory ceremony was held in the western part of Gujarat, where more than 20,000 people from all over the country participated to perform traditional dances.
After that, Prime Minister Modi gave a speech, saying, “The world is celebrating this day. Gandhi led the country with the idea of non-violence and the pursuit of the truth,” and commended again.
