He recalled that “different statements regarding the previous refusal” were heard from Kiev.

“It was a question of a technical error and a misunderstanding. Therefore, today, of course, everyone expects that there will be clarity whether the previous position of the Ukrainian side was somehow transformed, whether the Ukrainian side confirms its departure from previous agreements or, conversely, adjusts its confirmation of previous obligations. Therefore, today we are exactly what we expect, ”said Peskov.

As the representative of the Kremlin emphasized, in the event of Kiev’s refusal to sign the formula, negotiations on resolving the situation in Ukraine will slow down significantly.

According to him, in this case, the Kremlin "will continue to search for ways to solve this intra-Ukrainian problem to the best of its ability."

Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Moscow was counting on the Steinmeier formula to be agreed by a contact group in Minsk.

In mid-September, a representative of Kiev at a group meeting refused to sign the formula.

Later, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry explained this decision as a “technical misunderstanding”.
