Hundreds of Iraqis demonstrated in Tahrir Square in central Baghdad and other provinces, demanding job opportunities, reforming state institutions and fighting corruption in the country, under the slogan "Overthrowing the corrupt", amid an intensified security deployment.

The demonstrators waved Iraqi flags and banners calling for improving the living conditions of citizens and the removal of "corrupt" politicians, and condemned what they described as "abuses" by the security forces, which affected a number of protesters from the higher degrees of demonstrators during their rally to demand jobs.

Iraqi security forces, backed by riot police, were deployed around Tahrir Square in central Baghdad and tightened procedures in anticipation of any emergency during the demonstration.

These demonstrations were prepared in advance through a large mobilization in social media, and this day has been scheduled for it, and is supposed to witness this afternoon major demonstrations heading towards the Green Zone, which houses the Iraqi government and foreign embassies.

In the governorates of Maysan and Wasit, several demonstrations demanded the dissolution of the provincial councils and improve the reality of services and the removal of corrupt from positions, at a time when security forces prevented the gathering of a number of demonstrators in central Basra.
