He said that the phase, which started about a month ago, resulted in securing more than 150 square kilometers, where the areas of Branch and Al-Sooh were controlled to reach the highlands overlooking the Saudi city of Najran.

He also said they had obtained documents proving the role of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State in fighting alongside the coalition.

Possible settlement
On the political front, a spokesman for the Houthis Mohammad Abdul Salam said that the group's leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi met with the UN envoy in Sanaa to discuss "a possible comprehensive political settlement," and that Houthi called on the Saudi-led coalition countries to take advantage of the group's initiative launched recently to stop aerial and missile shelling towards the territories. Abdul Salam said that the steps taken by the group in Sanaa, and the release of dozens of prisoners, prove in practice that it seeks to end the "suffering caused by aggression", calling on Saudi Arabia similar steps, and to reach a full exchange of all prisoners and detainees.

Less than two weeks ago, the Houthis offered to stop their attacks on Saudi Arabia, demanding a similar response from Riyadh, while the latter responded by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir that it would monitor the seriousness of the Houthis in the implementation of their initiative.
