On September 30, a spokeswoman for the US Department of Justice, Kerry Kupek, told the American media that U.S. President Donald Trump had turned to foreign states for help on “interference” with the 2016 election.

It is about finding out how legitimate the FBI-sponsored surveillance of Trump headquarters in 2016, the materials of which later formed the basis of an investigation by Robert Muller about the alleged connections of Trump headquarters with Russia. The corresponding investigation in May, Attorney General William Barr ordered the conduct of federal Connecticut Attorney John Durham.

“Mr. Durham collects information from a variety of sources, including several foreign countries,” said Kupek. “At the request of Attorney General Barra, the president contacted other countries and asked that the Attorney General and Mr. Durham be introduced to the necessary officials.”

Overseas help

Earlier, American media reported that the Trump administration asked foreign powers for help in investigating the activities of American intelligence agencies.

According to The New York Times, Trump made such a request to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison during a recent telephone conversation. The media accused the president of “pressure” on the foreign leader and compared these negotiations with a call to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. Recall that the conversation with Zelensky gave Congress grounds to begin the process of impeachment trump.

Then Trump not only asked the Ukrainian leader to help in the investigation against Joe Biden, but also recommended Zelensky to talk with Barr, noting that much of the Mueller’s investigation “began with Ukraine.”

“As with the call, this conversation with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison demonstrates how Donald Trump uses high-level diplomatic relations to advance his personal political interests,” the New York Times article states.

On October 1, the Australian Prime Minister’s office confirmed that, in a conversation with Trump, the Australian leader expressed his willingness to cooperate with the US investigation.

In turn, the newspaper The Washington Post, reported that Barr asked for help not only from Australia, but also from the UK, and also recently traveled to Italy to get the information necessary for the investigation. This information has not yet been officially confirmed by representatives of these countries.

According to the publication, “William Barr held private meetings abroad with foreign intelligence officers,” and “President Trump hopes” that the Durham investigation “will help discredit the results of a U.S. intelligence service audit regarding Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.”

As President of the American University in Moscow Eduard Lozansky noted in a conversation with RT, a new attack by the American media against Trump is part of an information campaign to impeach the president.

“Now there is an attack on all possible fronts so that impeachment finally occurs,” Lozansky said in an interview with RT.

Reasons for the investigation

Back in May, President Trump announced the need to investigate the role of three countries - Australia, Britain and Ukraine - in attempts to accuse him of ties to Russia.

Recall that the Australian diplomat Alexander Downer in 2016 transmitted to the American intelligence services information about his negotiations with Trump's adviser George Papadopoulos, who was suspected of having ties to our country. Papadopoulos claims that Downer "spied" on him.

Former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele in the same 2016, commissioned by the Democrats-related company Fusion GPS, wrote a report on Trump's relations with Russia, full of unverified information. This opus made hype in the world media and also formed the basis for Mueller’s investigation.

Finally, information about the work of the ex-head of the campaign headquarters of Donald Trump Paul Manafort in Ukraine on the “Party of Regions”, which the American media constantly called “pro-Russian,” launched the investigation, which led Trump's former employee to prison and cast a shadow over the US president himself. Nevertheless, in the end, the allegations against Manafort were not related to investigating the “collusion” of Trump’s team with the Russian Federation, but to providing fake tax returns, bank fraud and hiding data on accounts with foreign banks.

According to experts, Mueller’s investigation, completed in the spring, did not find any evidence of a connection between the US president and Russia, contrary to the claims of political opponents of the American president. However, they continued their attempts to accuse the head of the White House of “conspiring” with Moscow, managing to find a “Russian trace” even in Trump’s conversation with Zelensky. A statement was made recently by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. And the head of the lower house committee on intelligence, Adam Schiff called for the release of information on the negotiations between Trump and Putin.

On September 27, the Washington Post reminded the Americans of "Russian intervention." The publication, citing one of the White House employees, reported that, in 2017, during a conversation with Sergey Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak, Trump said that he was not worried about Russian interference in the US election.

As HSE professor Alexander Domrin emphasized in a conversation with RT, “Democrats are on the second circle,” trying to again accuse Trump of ties to Russia. However, the US president is ready to use Mueller’s investigation against themselves.

“Trump needs to start an investigation against those who investigated him. This investigation of the investigators should be a very powerful part of Trump’s election campaign, ”Domrin said in an interview with RT.

What's next?

On September 30, Senate Senate Lindsay Graham, head of the Senate Legal Committee, said in an interview with Breitbart that “in the coming weeks,” US Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz will publish his report on the circumstances of the Mueller’s investigation.

The Senate, dominated by Republican Party allies of Donald Trump, intends, according to Graham, to arrange a hearing on this issue.

“I believe that the system needs to analyze the other side, just like Muller did a check against Trump. He spent two years investigating Trump's campaign and its activities. Now it’s time to understand how this imbalance in the system’s work was formed, ”Graham said in an interview with Breitbart.

As noted by Alexander Domrin, Trump supporters have long been waiting for the results of this investigation. However, the publication of at least some final data is delayed.

The Deep State, which Trump calls a swamp, resists. They understand that if everything is finally revealed, there will be a huge scandal, which has never happened before, ”the expert believes.

In the meantime, according to the political scientist, we should expect an aggravation of the internal political conflict in the United States, where both sides will try to use any arguments in the struggle.

“Now there is a game without rules. Lies, slander, fake news, misrepresentation of facts. We are entering the grand finale of this many years of struggle, which in the end can lead to a civil war in the United States, since half of the country is still firmly behind Trump, ”the political scientist emphasized.
