30 September 2019 The US Treasury ordered new sanctions against Evgheny Prigozhin, an entrepreneur linked to Vladimir Putin and already targeted by the United States for trying to interfere in the 2016 US elections.

"Yachts, planes and other assets linked to the companies of Phrigozhin, Russian fixer who operates the Internet Research Agency" will be confiscated wherever they are, explained in a note Steven Mnuchin, Treasury Minister, whose last initiative is the first taken in virtue of the executive order issued by Donald Trump against five had tried to manipulate the electoral rounds of the country.

In the blacklist also some employees of the Internet research agency, the Prigozhin company, already sanctioned for their interference in the 2016 elections, as also confirmed by the special prosecutor Robert Mueller.

"We have been clear: we will not tolerate any foreign interference in our elections," commented Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, promising that the US is ready to "impose a heavier cost on Russia due to its unacceptable destabilizing activities".

The sanctions were made public after a recent article in the Washington Post which revealed that US President Donald Trump, in a meeting in the oval study with Russian Foreign Minister Serghiei Lavrov and the Russian ambassador in USA Serghie Kislyak, he stated that he was not worried about Moscow's interference.
