US President Donald Trump pressured a recent phone call to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison to try to obtain information that would discredit the investigation of Russian interference in the last election, The New York Times reported Monday .

The newspaper said Monday that Trump asked Morrison to help the US attorney general, William Barr, in this regard, which was allegedly revealed by two US officials familiar with this phone call.

The sources also pointed out that the White House restricted access to communication between both leaders to a small group of officers, as was the case with the controversial call between the US president and his Ukrainian counterpart, Vladimir Zelenski, last July , which has led to the beginning of an investigation for a Trump impeachment process.
