Michel Lelièvre, an assistant to the Belgian child murderer Marc Dutroux, was released early on Monday. The court in Brussels has decided that he is allowed to serve the rest of his prison sentence under certain conditions, Belgian media reported Monday.

One of those conditions is that Lelièvre finds a home within six months.

In 2004, after years in custody, the man was sentenced to 25 years in prison. This means that he was almost at the end of his sentence.

Lelièvre helped Dutroux, among other things, with transporting the abducted girls, because he was blamed - as the henchman later said - for drug debts.

Girls were raped repeatedly

The Dutroux case is one of the best known and most horrible criminal cases in Belgium. Victims Julie Lejeune (8), Mélissa Russo (8), An Marchal (18), Eefje Lambrecks (17), Sabine Dardenne (12) and Laetitia Delhez (14) were kidnapped by the pedosexual Dutroux and locked up in one of his houses.

The girls were repeatedly raped and brainwashed. Dardenne later wrote in the book I was twelve and I cycled to school that Dutroux had claimed to keep her safe until her parents wanted her back. Julie, Mélissa, An and Eefje did not survive.

Michelle Martin, the ex-wife of Dutroux, was released earlier after a court ruling. She went to a monastery after her prison sentence.
