Pierre-Ambroise Bosse, the 800m title-holder, failed to qualify for the Doha World Cup final on Sunday.

The Frenchman finished eighth and last in his semi-final in 1m47.79, far behind Bosnian Amel Tuka (1: 45.63).

A result light years away from his surprise victory in 2017 in London in 1:44:67 and a new disillusion for the French team, after the abandonment of 50 km walk Yohann Diniz, who was also holding title.

"We hear a whole media circus, a negative spiral, but the French team is still alive, the wall was damaged but it is not destroyed, I have faith in the French team", he declared at the microphone of France 2 for the other French athletes.
