On June 2, 2017, the Eastern clock tower in Nyköping burned down. And today the new one was inaugurated.

- We have built it up for a short time, everyone has been engaged, happy and positive. There have been no hookers anywhere or neighbors complaining. Then things go so fast, says church pastor Lars Viper.

Hundreds of people were present

Together with Bishop Johan Dalman, the belfry was opened with prayer and speech.

- We believe there were around 500-600 people. Several almost didn't fit. You can't expect that many, it was very festive. From the first day it burned to the present day everyone has cared, wondered and participated. It's very nice.

Copy of the 18th century clock stack

- It is an exact copy of the old bell stack, it was a dream and it has come true. When the bells started ringing, it was all quiet and everyone was just enjoying themselves.

Throughout Sunday there has been a busy schedule.

- It has been a long and festive day that is not over yet. It has been a mass fair during the morning, church lunch and then we have published a book about the belfry, where among other things the Russian raids 300 years ago are included.
