The last two members of the legendary British band Queen played Saturday, with Adam Lambert at the microphone, for a good cause during a concert in New York against poverty and for the protection of the environment.
Some 60,000 spectators gathered in Central Park for the Globen Citizen festival, an unofficial closing ceremony of the UN General Assembly.
Pharell Williams, Alicia Keys or One Republic were among the other headliners of this festival where tickets are offered to activists of these causes.
Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor have shown that they are still on the attack for the English rock classics "We Are The Champions," "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "We Will Rock You".
Adam Lambert, discovered through the teleconference American Idol, is their singer for eight years. And if no one can ever replace Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991, he showed his taste for extravagant costumes, ending up wearing a crown and wearing a bright red military-inspired uniform.
"We are asking fans to take action and ask some governments around the world (...) to play their part in caring for the oceans," he told the crowd. "The fish and the fauna of the oceans literally suffocate because of bits of plastic".
Before Queen, it was the actor Leonardo DiCaprio who made a surprise appearance on stage to praise the militant youth, inspired by the example of the Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg.

In the week, Global Citizen announced a year of campaigning with states that will end with the 10-hour concert broadcast, in New York, Lagos, and in cities in Latin America, Europe and Asia. which remain to be determined. Billie Eilish, Janelle Monae, Usher or Metallica are committed.
