Qatar Charity has affirmed its commitment to making sport an essential component of its programs and projects, especially in the areas most affected by the conflict in the world, in a panel discussion on the sidelines of its participation in the work of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The workshop was held on the sidelines of the Foundation's participation in the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly under the title "The Role of Sport in Protecting and Empowering Refugees and Displaced Persons" at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, in cooperation with Qatar Fund for Development and a number of international humanitarian organizations.

"Today, we celebrate sports but differently, focusing on life-changing stories for the better, inspiring hope and promoting dreams," said Qatar Charity Chief Executive Yousuf bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.

He stressed that sport can be a tool to build their individual skills and abilities, promote their physical and psychological well-being and self-respect, and a means to help them lead a dignified life.

The side-by-side workshop, organized by Qatar Charity in collaboration with the Qatar Fund for Development, UNHCR, IOM, the German International Development Agency and Saif the Dream, presented a series of working papers on the transition to sport in conflict-torn societies. Using sport as a tool for achieving the goals of peace and development, reviewing the global framework for promoting sport for development and peace, as well as perspectives and perspectives that sport can create for a more dignified life for refugees and displaced persons, and the challenges facing the use of Riyadh As a tool for development.

Officials from international humanitarian organizations, experts and specialists in relief and charity work, as well as a number of sports stars from Kenya, Somalia and Afghanistan who were forced to leave the country to seek refuge in other countries and achieved successes in their field.

The event included a companion exhibition containing various pictures and materials illustrating humanitarian programs and projects that use sport for peace and development, such as the Qatar Charity Initiative “Sport for Peace in Darfur”, launched in collaboration with the Qatar Development Fund.
