The rescue mission, which usually has 150 guests during a day at the breakfast café, had 200 guests during a Monday, which is a record number since the site was opened 20 years ago.

Susanne commutes an hour and a half each day for a breakfast meal. She has been without a home for three years.

"Only the smallest thing about being outside the community is that you are affected," she says.

Eva Erlandsson, deacon at the Rescue Mission in Gothenburg, believes that the increase is due to a harsher social climate.
