Rasmus Wiedesheim-Paul accounted for HBK's two goals in the first half, one of them on penalty in extra time.

After the break, Varberg reduced through Adama Fofana already in the opening minutes, but Dusan Djuric pulled on HBK's behalf shortly thereafter extended the lead again to 3-1.

Ten minutes from the end, Varberg also got a penalty and Nahom Girmai Netabay beat 3-2, which was the final score.

Chance at the top

Before the match, Varberg's BoiS had a chance to take the series lead in the Superettan.

That was not the case, but the team still has a chance to make a historic advance to Allsvenskan. BoIS is currently third in the table - qualifying place for Allsvenskan - a point from the series lead, but with a match more played than the competitors.

Down to Brage in fourth place is the three point margin.

For HBK, the victory means that they extend the margin down to the relegation line. The club has not yet secured the contract for next year's Superettan, but after this victory has a margin of 9 points down to the qualifier.

The final match can decide

Four games remain to be played for both Varberg and Halmstad.

At the top, it can be a nail-biter if the all-Swedish places all the way to the last match, when BoIS on November 3 is set against now series-leading Mjällby at home on Påskbergsvallen.
