The Canadian Bobsleigh Federation announced Saturday that it finally agreed to separate from the two-time Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries, who wanted to continue her career in the United States, after filing a harassment complaint against a national coach.

"The Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton Board of Directors has decided to respond to Kaillie's request to withdraw from our program," said the Canadian federation.

"It was not an easy decision to make," said the Canadian federation, adding that all factors have been taken into account "in this important and complex decision to let an athlete win a medal to one of our best competitors ".

Earlier this month, a Canadian court dismissed the Olympic champion (2010, 2014) who wanted justice to force the Canadian bobsleigh federation to let her go to the United States.

The judge in charge of the case decided that the Canadian federation had all the authority necessary to choose whether or not to let the athletes compete for other countries.

The 34-year-old athlete filed a harassment complaint in August 2018 after suffering "horrific verbal and mental abuse on many occasions from Bobsleigh Canada's head coach," according to the CBC .

Kaillie Humphries did not participate in the official competitions last winter, explaining in January that it was because of the "climate" within her team, where she felt "disturbed".

She was married mid-September in the United States with Travis Armbruster, a former member of the American Bobsleigh Team.
