March 23, 2019 A fire on a bus that ran along a motorway in central China caused 26 deaths and 30 injuries, according to reports from local authorities today.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon in Changde, Hunan province.

On the vehicle there were 56 people: 53 passengers, a tour guide and two drivers. The latter are both detainees, while the authorities investigated the cause of the accident.

Photos of the scene show the interior of the completely burnt-out 59-seat bus, indicating that the fire was probably caused by material on board.
