On Sunday afternoon, the snow began to fall in the inland of Norrbotten and the snowfall will continue during the evening, night and a bit into Monday. It is not the first snowfall of the fall, but it is the first time that it is estimated that such quantities will be met to fulfill the SMHI criteria for Class 1 warning.

"During the night it can come two to five centimeters and on Monday another five to ten centimeters," says Ibrahim al-Mausawe, meteorologist at SMHI.

Covers for cooler weather

During the following days, there is heavy rainfall and unstable weather with a lot of rain.

- Even during Tuesday, parts of Norrland can get snowfall and on Wednesday it can snow in the Dalafjällen. Generally, it is the cover of cooler weather, says Ibrahim al-Mausawe.

Next Monday, October 7, is Birgitta Day and hot days in early October are usually called British Summer. But those who hope for the summer's return may wait in vain. SMHI's forecast for next Monday shows single-digit temperatures for the entire country, except in Götaland where it can be up to ten plus degrees in the middle of the day.

However, forecasts for the coming weekend are very uncertain, emphasizes Ibrahim al-Mausawe.

-One model shows high pressure, cold and minus degrees and the other model shows rain and wind.
