France's Valentin Lavillenie qualified for the pole vault final of the Doha World Championships (Qatar) on Saturday with a 5.70m bar.

While his brother Renaud, world record holder, was eliminated, Valentin has passed 5.70 m on his first try and will be the only tricolor representative in the final. The third Frenchman in the running, Alioune Sene, also failed to enter the final.

The three pole vaulters having crossed more than 6 meters this season, the American Sam Kendricks, Sweden's Armand Duplantis and Pole Pyotr Lisek have all crossed the qualifying course.
