The president of the Government in office and general secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, has warned his party today that the situation in Catalonia "threatens to escalate" and has not ruled out that "new moments of tension" are lived with the judgment of the Court Supreme for the independence process. Despite this horizon, he has defended that "we are going to overcome this crisis".

To do this, he has assured, in his intervention before the Federal Committee of the party that a progressive and stable Executive is needed that does not "trigger the conflict" and that guarantees compliance with the law and a response of "calm firmness".

With these assessments, after the latest events in the Parliament of Catalonia, which has passed new resolutions of doubtful constitutionality that include calls for disobedience, the president campaigns the effects that the Supreme Court's decision may have on Spanish politics.

The meeting of the PSOE today marks the beginning of the 10-N electoral race, marked by the Catalan situation, precisely because of the political and social consequences derived from the sentence. In the opinion of the president, the independentistas have lost social support and there are fewer those who in this movement support the unilateral way of breaking the legality to achieve an independent Catalonia.

Sanchez has complained to the independentistas that he admits something that in his opinion is "evident" and that they have already recognized before the courts and that he admits continuously in private: that they have "failed", that their "shipwreck is total". They are in a "dead end," he said. For this reason, they have been ordered to avoid "major mistakes" and "condemn" the violence that comes from independentist groups, in reference to the protection given by the president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, to the members of the Defense Committees of the Republic (CDR) arrested this week with explosives.

The socialist leader, who has repeated that in Spain there are no "political prisoners" and has defended the "good work of the Civil Guard", has insisted that he will defend the Constitution "without hesitation." His bet is "dialogue within the Constitution". "Law and dialogue, in this order, because there can be no dialogue to break the law."

Sánchez has indicated that the PSOE does not distribute "certificates of constitutionality" but "we love and are identified with the Constitution". And this has asked the party to transmit Spanish society: "Go out and say what answers are going to be given to problems in our country." Because "10-N is a great opportunity for Spain."
