Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met separately with his Burundian counterpart, Ezekiel Nebigira, and his South Sudanese counterpart, Haut Deng Achuil, on Saturday on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said that the Egyptian Foreign Minister briefed his Burundian and South Sudanese counterparts during the meeting on the latest developments of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, expressing Egypt's unease over the long duration of the negotiations. For his part, the Burundian Foreign Minister stressed his country's understanding of Cairo's position and the importance of the Nile River as the sole source of life for the Egyptian people.
