Stewart Hosie, who represents the Scottish National Party, SNP, in Parliament tells the BBC that a vote of no confidence may be the only way to avoid a contractual breakaway on 31 October.

"We must do so because there is currently no confidence that the Prime Minister will comply with the law or seek the extension of the EU voted by Parliament just a few weeks ago," he told the BBC.

The SNP may be able to support Corbyn

In an interview with BBC Radio Scotland, Stewart Hosie says that a vote of no confidence could take place as early as Monday or Tuesday.

SNP party leader Nicola Sturgeon hinted on Friday that she may be able to support Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn if a new prime minister should be elected. At the same time, the Liberal Democrat has said they cannot imagine seeing Corbyn in the role.

Johnson can be investigated for corruption

At the same time, an independent unit within the British Police Department has been commissioned to review whether there is reason to investigate whether Johnson may have been guilty of criminal neglect of his office while he was mayor of London, reports the BBC among others.

The case concerns the Sunday Times revelation last weekend about close links between Johnson and an American entrepreneur.

The American company has received just over SEK 1 million in grants from the British Ministry of Culture, although it is uncertain if the company even has any business in the UK.

10 Downing Street writes in a reply that "as mayor of London, the prime minister did a tremendous job of selling our capital around the world, and hit the big drum for London and the UK. Everything was done with decency and in a normal way ”.

Boris Johnson was mayor of London between 2008 and 2016. There is currently no criminal suspicion against the prime minister.
