A number of Sudanese demonstrated in Khartoum to demand the release of Sudanese student Walid Abdel Rahman Hassan, who was arrested by the Egyptian authorities a few days ago on charges of participating in popular protests calling for the departure of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The demonstrators roamed the Egyptian embassy shouting slogans against the government of Sisi in the presence of heavy security without objection.

The family of the student Walid denied the charge, and confirmed in statements to the island that his son has nothing to do with the Islamists, but actively participated in the overthrow of the government of ousted President Omar al-Bashir and arrested twice.

The Sudanese denounced on social media the offer of the interview, saying that confessions were taken from Walid coerced, and dozens of them demonstrated on Friday in Khartoum in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian Embassy.

The Sudanese embassy in Cairo announced yesterday that it has begun to communicate with the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to inquire about the matter.
