According to the author of the article, when Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu talked about countering US aircraft carriers in a recent interview, he implied the Russian Granit cruise missile anti-ship missiles (ASM). During communication with the media, Shoigu pointed out that while the Pentagon spends money on creating aircraft carrier groups, the Russian side is focusing on funds that can deal with them, since such an approach is cheaper and more efficient.

The material notes that it is the Granite missile that has the greatest potential for fighting American carrier groups.

The author emphasizes that the missile is capable of reaching a target at a distance of up to 650 km, while U.S. aircraft carriers are capable of protecting a zone with a radius of 550 km. At the same time, the warhead of the RCC can be replaced by a nuclear one with tremendous power.

The article also says that it was this missile that successfully hit a target at a distance of about 350 km during the exercises, which took place shortly before the interview with the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Earlier, an American journalist Mark Episkopos in his article for The National Interest magazine called the promising Russian aircraft PAK DA under development “a fundamentally new bomber.”
