Aruba runner Jonathan Busby, visibly exhausted and on the verge of collapse in the final lap of a 5,000-meter series, was largely supported by another competitor, setting off a standing ovation at Khalifa Stadium on Friday at the Doha Worlds. (Qatar).

Braima Suncar Dabo of Guinea Bissau supported Busby for the final 250 meters of the race after catching him and seeing that he could not finish without his help.

The two, the only qualified from their country for all the Championships, finished in more than 18 minutes, an anecdotal time, but under a standing ovation of the Khalifa stadium, welcoming this gesture of fair play.

Nearly five minutes earlier, Ethiopian Selemon Barega won the first series (13: 24.69), while the young Norwegian prodigy Jakob Ingebrigtsen, fourth, qualified for his first world final a few days after having celebrated his 19 years.

Impressive double European champion (1,500 and 5,000 m) last summer in Berlin shortly before turning 18, Ingebrigtsen is engaged on the same two distances on these Worlds.
