September 27, 2019As soon as we wake up, US President Donald Trump immediately started talking with tweets about the two issues that now occupy his thoughts: Ukraine and Iran.

On 7 September last Iran launched advanced centrifuges to boost its uranium stocks by up to 5%, despite the agreement with the West, the JCPOA, repudiated by Washington with sanctions against the country until 2030 in the Middle East, cannot exceed the 3.67% threshold.

Iran wanted me to lift the sanctions imposed on them in order to meet. I said, of course, NO!

"Iran wanted me to lift the sanctions we imposed on it, of course I told him no!" Thus on Twitter, Trump raised doubts about the hypothesis put forward by President Hassan Rohani who said: "The United States offered Iran the right to remove nuclear sanctions in exchange for the resumption of negotiations".

The Iranian president himself, on his return to Tehran from the UN General Assembly, stressed that "all Iran's nuclear activities will continue to be monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency".

The other western countries of the JCPOA (United Kingdom, France and Germany) have repeatedly stated that they are committed to saving the agreement by which the sanctions had been loosened in exchange for precise limitations to its nuclear program (IAEA).

The fear for Trump is that Iran will produce nuclear weapons. However, inspections in uranium production facilities in Iran show "that Tehran is not trying to develop the atomic bomb, beyond the measures already taken in violation of the 2015 nuclear agreement". This is stated by the Iranian president himself. A dialogue then still at a distance, after Iran said no to a bilateral meeting instead called by Trump.
