US President Donald Trump risks being put on trial by reason of the rewritten telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj at the end of July.

- This with national law has only happened a few times in history. This is exceptional. What sets it apart from the Russia inquiry, where they also talked about national law, is that this is easily delineated and can be explained to the voters, says US expert and journalist Andreas Utterström in SVT's Morning Study.

High price to turn Trump's back

But the likelihood that Trump would be felled thinks he is small.

- If Trump is to be cast in a referendum, two-thirds are needed. That means that 10-15 of his own party mates will turn his back on him, if you do that you will pay an extremely high price if you come from a state where Trump is popular. Then you get boiled in lard by your own voters.

According to Andreas Utterström, Donald Trump has survived many scandals and political storms that would have led most to leave office.

- What he is so good at is making political issues complicated, greedy and rogue so that people do not have the energy to care. I think he is trying to do this in this case as well - and I think he will succeed.
