Pompeo declared the need for a constructive dialogue with Russia

“Despite the fact that we have areas of tension with Russia, we must find a constructive way forward. We managed to work together before, we can achieve this again, ”he wrote on Twitter.

Pompeo noted that during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, arms control topics and a wide range of other issues were raised.

Earlier, Lavrov and Pompeo held a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Their negotiations lasted a little less than an hour.

During the meeting, the Russian minister drew Pompeo’s attention to the unacceptability of US actions to deny Russian representatives visas for multilateral events within the UN.
