“I think if such a decision were made, then our country would be able to ensure this“ great resettlement ”of the United Nations and certainly guarantee the rights of all foreign participants,” RIA Novosti quoted the parliamentarian as saying.

Matvienko called such a possible transfer a difficult topic, since hundreds of billions of dollars are needed to create the UN infrastructure in a new place.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking about the situation with the issue of US visas to a number of members of the Russian delegation, called for thinking about moving international events from the United States.

In this regard, he also recalled that Joseph Stalin at one time proposed to place the UN headquarters in Sochi.

Later, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that in response to the visa refusal, they proposed to postpone the meeting of the UNGA First Committee from the United States.

Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani said he will support the transfer of UN headquarters from the United States to another country, if such an issue is discussed.
