On Tuesday, Aftonbladet published a debate article signed Greta Thunberg, and the organization "Fridays for future", where adults were invited to join Friday's major climate strike.

“The school and the job together form the foundation of society and if both strikes, society stops. Young people have already requested change, now the climate crisis requires that adults do the same, ”they write in the article.

Do not oppose the participation of members

However, among the Swedish trade unions with whom SVT News has been in contact, the answer is unanimous, you will not announce a strike - but you do not object to members getting involved.

- The climate is really one of the big issues of our time, but no we do not announce a strike on Friday. But we see no problem in participating in the strike, if you have received a clear sign from your employer that things are going well, says Johanna Green, press secretary at the Union.

The answer is the same from IF Metall.

- We will not announce a strike. But there are no barriers to participating if you have talked to your employer, says Jesper Pettersson, press officer at IF Metall.

"Want to show our support"

However, several companies will allow their employees to participate in the climate strike. Among other things, the streaming service Spotify, the clothing company Haglöfs and the energy company Telge Energy.

- We want to show our support for the climate fight. During Friday, we will shut down the business so that everyone who wants to participate - which most will do, says Johannes Boson, CEO of Telge Energy, to SVT News.

During last Friday's climate strike, the Swedish truck manufacturer Scania chose to shut down all operations and instead use the day to train its employees on climate issues. However, the company will announce a strike this Friday.

- We will not strike. The climate is a very important issue, but the most important thing is not to strike but how to work with climate issues - and we do that in our work, says Hans-Åke Danielsson, press spokesman at Scania.
