He first killed Salvatore Andronico, a retired Trenitalia engineer. Then he killed his son Simone Andronico, 31, an engineer in a company in the aerospace sector with more blows. Barna, unemployed, lived alone in Sesto Fiorentino since 2008, after the death of his elderly parents. He had begun to complain about the noise for the renovation work several months before committing the double murder. In an attempt to resolve the controversy, Salvatore Andronico and his son had also turned to a social mediation desk, a private service in agreement with the Municipality of Sesto Fiorentino, which aims to settle critical issues among citizens. The operators wrote to Barna to start a mediation, but he would never respond.
