Pronina also noted that the captain "actually confirmed that he was drinking alcohol a few hours before the incident."

The incident occurred in southern Sweden, a bulk carrier under the flag of Gibraltar followed from Kaliningrad.
According to the Swedish Coast Guard, the captain was drunk and fell asleep during control.
