by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 27 September 2019Thursday, 3 October, the debate on the bills on the subject of citizenship to foreigners will resume in the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Chamber, also considering the new majority of the PD-Movement 5 Stars.

The speaker will be Giuseppe Brescia of the M5S, president of the Commission, after the former rapporteur Roberto Speranza joined the Conte bis government as Health Minister.

At the end of October 2018, the bill, the first signatory of Laura Boldrini of the LeU group, now in the Democratic Party, was hinged on the opposition quota.

The text provides for the granting of Italian citizenship to a foreign minor who entered Italy within 12 years and who has completed at least one course of study for 5 years regularly in the national territory.

The resumption of work on the Ius Culturae was announced by the president of the Brescia Commission: "Other proposals from other groups will be coming to the Commission, including that of the M5S, and we will examine them. I personally believe that the Ius Culturae can represent a reasonable solution, also because it focuses on our schools as a powerful factor of integration. I hope that the whole politics, majority and opposition, will prove to be up to a debate that calls into question rights and duties, belonging and inclusion, "says Brescia.

For the Democratic Party, Orfini comments: "Here is the first small step forward: the discussion on Ius Culturae will begin in the Chamber on October 3. It can be done. And it can be done immediately".
