The "We Record" human rights platform published a set of tips for demonstrators in Egypt, on how to avoid their phone searches by security agents, and how to deal with cases of enforced disappearance.

The platform itself defines its location and accounts as an international human rights platform focused on collecting data and documenting violations through interaction with victims, activists and civil society organizations.

It aims to record violations against society in all its components, while analyzing the data in a way that allows it to be used by the community as a tool to establish the values of justice and empower its members of their rights.

The platform was published on its account on social media, publishing on avoiding phone searches and dealing with enforced disappearance.

Inspect phones
The publication stated that the insurance method reached by the platform so far is divided into two parts, as follows the details of the first part:

1. Unlock the phone by fingerprint or face, where you must activate the password in numbers.

2. Enter the phone settings (Settings) then go to the menu and choose the fingerprint and password (Touch ID & Passcode) and you will be asked to enter the phone password to access, enter the password and will open a new menu, scroll down to the end of the list and you will find the option of erase Data), enable the property.

3. If you are arrested or want to erase all the phone data, you will enter the wrong password 10 times, and the phone data will be erased, but the disadvantage is that the phone will prevent you from entering the password in ten times quickly.

This is why the platform recommends the second way, because it is a quick way to scan data and know the location of the phone across your family:

1- Open the Location feature in the phone.

2. Open the Find my iPhone app and sign in.

3. Leave your e-mail and password that you have registered in the App Store of Apple and iCloud with a family member before you go down the street.

If you are arrested, your family members can access the following link:
iCloud.com/find
Then enter your email and password, and through the link can wipe all your mobile phone data.

Another important feature in Part 2 is that your family can determine where you were detained until the last time your phone was connected to the Internet.

For Android phones, the platform recommends reviewing the following link:
https://www.facebook.com/2462204254009475/posts/2555289534700946/

Or via the website: https://werecord.org/android/

The platform advised the demonstrators to create a Facebook account that is only sports news and other which has nothing to do with politics, so that if you are pressed to open a Facebook account, you open this account.

Enforced disappearance
The platform has published some steps that can be followed in case of enforced disappearance:

1. Enable Location on your Android or iPhone.

2. For Android phones:

* Activate the "Find my mobile" feature associated with Gmail.

* Leave your email and password with a loved one.

3. In case of iphone phones:

* After you open Location, open the Find my iPhone app and sign in.

* Leave your e-mail and password you have registered with the Apple App Store and icloud with a family member.
