- Recycling clothes is tricky. It is very difficult to manufacture new things like you can do with, for example, plastic and metal. Often the garments contain several different materials and they are difficult to separate from each other, says Johanna Nilsson who is a writer, lecturer and blog about sustainable fashion.
Even materials such as cotton are difficult to recycle without losing quality.
- There is a lot of research going on right now and progress is being made. But there is still some time left before we can recycle old clothes for new ones, says Johanna Nilsson
