The man was arrested in early September and has been detained for two weeks. Prosecution would have been filed on Thursday, but when the prosecutor filed the application for extended prosecution time, a detention hearing was held during Wednesday.

The district court chose to walk on the prosecutor's line and extended the detention period of the man to October 9 on the grounds that there is a great risk that he will either destroy evidence or continue to commit crimes. However, the man's defender wanted him to be set free.

The man is suspected of causing 27 fires in Mönsterås and Högsby municipalities during the month of May to July this year. He himself denies the charges.
