“Each of the actions taken by officials of the Department of State was fully acceptable and corresponded to the goal that was set for us,” TASS quoted Pompeo as answering the question of whether he was sure that there were “inappropriate actions among his subordinates in the Department of State” in the context of the July telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Zelensky.

The Secretary of State also expressed hope that the United States will be able to help the President of Ukraine put an end to corruption in Ukraine.

“We tried to use this opportunity to create better relations between the USA and Ukraine, to use opportunities to strengthen our relations, to help put an end to corruption in Ukraine,” he said.
