An opaque fund of 180 million yen for the president of Kanden

Six executives such as Kansai Electric Power's chairman and president received a total of approximately 180 million yen from a former assistant in Takahama-cho, Fukui where Kansai Electric Power's nuclear power plant is located. In response, the company revealed that it had filed an income tax return.

According to Kansai Electric Power, six executives, including Chairman Makoto Yagi and President Shigeki Iwane, were pointed out by the tax authorities. In the seven years up to 2017, the six people received a total of approximately 180 million yen from a former assistant in Takahama-cho, Fukui Prefecture, where the Kansai Electric Power Takahama nuclear plant is located.

In the company's explanation, executives were asked to return the funds they received and, except for those in the ritual range, had already returned to the former assistant.

In addition, the tax authorities have already filed an amendment after receiving the indication that there are some taxable income taxes even if the funds are returned.

At the Takahama Nuclear Power Plant, while there are many related works such as maintenance inspections, it has also been pointed out that a huge amount of money was flowing from the local construction company involved in the work to the former assistant.

Critics are likely to be raised from the fact that the local government's former assistant has passed unclear funding to the executives of the power company that drives the nuclear power plant.

Kansai Electric Power Co., Ltd. has set up an in-house investigation committee to investigate the flow of funds, etc., and will hold a press conference on the 27th to explain.
