26 September 2019Insert the mandate in the government pact between the M5s and Pd. It is the request that, from New York, the Foreign Minister and political leader of the 5-star Movement Luigi di Maio has put forward to the government allies, worried by the defection of Senator Gelsomina Vono and the breezy migrations of other elected M5s. A proposal that represents a workhorse of the movement that, however, has not received the consent of the allies. On the contrary, the reactions to Di Maio's request were decidedly hostile, not only at home but also by other political forces.

100 thousand euros fine
Conversing with the reporters on the sidelines of the UN general assembly, Di Maio first reminded those among the M5s parliamentarians that they were planning to abandon the pentastellato group, that "there is a fine of 100 thousand euros", for then make a more general reasoning: "We must put an end to the cow market - said Di Maio - both of the parliamentarians who pass in the groups and of the groups that make them come in. I believe the time has come in Italy to introduce the mandate, I will speak with the Pd ". The answer came very close to both dem leaders, and was definitely negative.

Absolute Pd No
The group leader at Palazzo Madama Andrea Marcucci was tranchant and cited the Constitution, not losing the opportunity to argue with M5s: "I hope that Di Maio - he said - wanted to joke when he said he will talk to the Democratic Party for introducing the mandate constraint: the absence of it, enshrined in the Constitution, still has a very important value, at least until there are corporate parties - he added - Article 67 guarantees a freedom of action necessary to be able to perform its functions without external pressures and blackmail ".

Chorus of no from other parties
Critical rumors about the mandate constraint have overtaken the majority enclosure: Forza Italia deputy Osvaldo Napoli has called Di Maio's statements "bullshit", while his party colleague Lorena Milanato sees them as "liberticide". The secretary of + Europa, Benedetto Della Vedova, rejects this possibility without appeal, evoking the "end of representative democracy" and warning the Democratic Party on the need not to surrender to M5s on this ground. He cites the Constitution, like his former party-mate Marcucci, also the vice-president of the Chamber and deputy of Italy alive Ettore Rosato, who underlines the need to "do not hurt the Constitution",

Pizzarotti: landslides all around
The Italian leader in common and mayor of Parma Federico Pizzarotti uses extremely harsh words about his ex-fellow-mover Di Maio: "Since the lands around him crash - Pizzarotti wrote - he would like to run for cover, making Italy an illiberal democracy, introducing the mandate constraint. After the abolition of poverty and this other shot how many castronerie we are forced to hear again from Minister Di Maio? ".

Brothers of Italy possibilist
The only possibilists on the mandate of the mandate appear, for the moment, the members of FdI: "Di Maio woke up - writes the vice-president of the Chamber Fabio Rampelli - but now he explained us why he voted against the amendments of FdI on the modification of the article 67 of the Constitution ".
