This year's Värmland author has been awarded since 2003 by the Värmland Literature Association together with Värmland's museum, the Länsbiblioteket in Värmland and Region Värmland. The award winner is presented at the Gothenburg Book Fair and is then awarded at the Warmland Book Fair. The idea with the prize is to promote authorship with warm country connection and thus contribute to the strengthening and development of the Warmlandic storytelling tradition.
