- We feel that there is a general concern in society. That it is not only the libraries who are aware of this concern and that there are other authorities, associations and bodies who are aware of this concern. Just in Katrineholm's library, we have updated a routine to change that concern. Among other things, an action staircase on how we should proceed if a situation escalates, says Anna-Karin Sjökvist, library manager in Katrineholm.

She gives an example:

- We make sure there are three to four staff on the floor. It could be if, for example, a group of young people come in who are noisy, which can disturb other visitors. If staff ask them to cushion and they do not, more from the staff will come and talk. If it continues, so will even more staff. Usually it works.

Police have been called

Sjökvist believes that it can get a little messy after school, and once a police has been called.

- When we see that there will be larger groups and concerns among the groups, we have called the police because we do not know if they will argue among themselves. Then we got to bring in some more professional assessors of the situation.

- We take it very seriously. Partly from the visitors' perspective, we should be able to guarantee a calm and quiet environment for our visitors. And then it is clear that you can feel exposed as employees. But we take a serious look at it as it is often about young people who have special needs for different types of instances that the library cannot provide. We need cooperation in society to make them feel good and find meaningful leisure time. It is not an isolated problem for the libraries, says Anna-Karin Sjökvist.
