Maud Fontenoy, navigator and president of the Maud Fontenoy Foundation, reacts on Europe 1 to the publication of the alarming report of the IPCC on the oceans.

INTERVIEW

The climate crisis is also the ocean crisis. While the Giec publishes an alarming report on the state of the seas and oceans, Maud Fontenoy calls the whole planet to act for their safeguard. "We must realize that this is not a bottomless pit in which we can throw indefinitely," said the sailor. "The oceans are a giant at the feet of clay."

Maud Fontenoy calls to be aware of the immense place occupied by the oceans for the survival of humanity. "Four billion people would not eat if there was not the sea to bring their food, it is the pot of humanity." It encourages everyone, politicians and citizens alike, to take action on their own to protect seas and oceans.
