It is noted that the parties discussed the situation in the Middle East, while "special attention was paid to the state of affairs in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement."
The Russian side expressed "readiness to continue to support the Palestinian leadership in its efforts to realize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to create their independent state within the borders of 1967, living in peace and security with Israel."
In July, Putin Mahmoud Abbas over the phone discussed Middle East settlement issues.
