This dialogue is one of the four initiatives announced by Carrie Lam on September 4 when she announced the withdrawal of the controversial bill. But neither the government nor Hong Kong rely on this dialogue to achieve a quick solution to the current crisis.

Officially, this is for the government to understand the " roots " of discontent that has been expressed for three months in Hong Kong. Unofficially, it is about displaying the good will of the government to find a way out of the crisis.

" Communication is better than confrontation, " said Carrie Lam, who says she is convinced that the problems that this illustrious crisis is going well beyond her extradition bill, which certainly triggered the move in early June, but which is now removed.

20,000 Hong Kong registered

The dialogue, which will take place Thursday, September 26 from 19h, will be in the sports stadium of Wan Chai to accommodate the 20,000 residents who have registered to participate. It will take two hours. 150 people will be selected by computer. The press is also invited.

In the camp of the demonstrators and the opposition, skepticism reigns. The five demands of the protesters are very clear. They expect only Carrie Lam's execution. A similar dialogue effort ended Wednesday morning between Carrie Lam and the district councilors. But barely 20% of them had moved, saying the exercise was a waste of time.
